About Our Company

Owen Printing Co. started in Morristown, but moved to Powell on July 2, 2001. We started out working mostly for the customers of Evans Office Supply in Morristown. Since we have been in Powell, we are coming to know and be known in this community. As the people in this area learn of the quality of printing and customer service we offer, our business is growing. Owen Printing Co. is owned by Mrs. Nina Owen, and Mr. Albert Owen is the head pressman. The business is run by very few employees and until very recently they had one thing in common - they were all Deaf. Now there is one additional woman who contracts with Owen Printing Co. and works with marketing and design. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Owen's son Tyson has recently come to help out, but everyone else associated with the company is Deaf.

The product offered here is printed material. The Owens can print anything you can imagine. They can design it, print it, fold it, bind it, pad it, drill it - whatever it needs. They use many methods both old and new, so they can accommodate most any technique the designer wants to come up with. The equipment used is not really the issue at Owen Printing Co. Mr. Owen uses his expertise to find a way in every situation. The man who does our color separations said whatever the quality of work that comes in, Mr. Owen can find a way to print it and make it look good. The main tools I see here that make the difference are a light table that Mr. Owen built himself, his exacto knife and his innovative spirit. The work that comes from this shop is beautiful because of Albert Owen's hard work, and creativity. He honestly takes "thinking outside the box" to a whole new level!

Also, how do you communicate with a public that is all hearing? When you call us, we have found a way to use a simple telephone answering machine, fax and Teletype all on one phone line so we can accommodate both hear and Deaf customers. No matter how you try to communicate with us, it will work. The communication barrier is not a problem no matter who happens to be here when you come in. Mr. Owen leads the way with his friendly, outgoing attitude and ability to communicate somehow with anyone.

Owen Printing Co. had a project going in Morristown to help schools and also profit the Company. They printed Sports Calendars that the school then sold to their community. The calendar of events was listed, the school itself was advertised, but also community businesses were allowed to purchase advertising space at the bottom of the calendar. Owen Printing Co. asked only the price of printing. The schools kept all profits from sales and advertising. We are attempting to get that program started here. We are sending out information letters to 167 schools in this area.
